camille jones vs dj le grande

camille jones – the creeps (fedde le grand remix)

this producer named fedde le grand has been charting productions on billboards everywhere. even d12 (eminem’s crew) recreated his first single which brought his sound over to the mainstream us radio. this remix reached the top 10 in the uk because it’s production is better than the original version of the song. sexy overtones, raw bass hooks, six splendas.

trash yourself

trash yourself & the toxic avenger – song 2

the name says it all– trashy electro music with some toxic sauce. trash yourself worked with the toxic avenger to remix/cover the ever-so-popular song 2 by blur. right now they’re currently in the studio working on their full length. this trash remix has a lot of justice vibes running through them. i love these new synth distorted bass-lines tracks (calvin harris, moving units, justice, etc). you will also hear “i think my fucking ears are bleeding” because the sampled drums are so ridiculously put together that it officially tags this song as trash-electro-jump-and-dance music. six splendas!

hot chip

hot chip – shake a fist

holy shit! i don’t think i gave hot chip enough credit as a band ever until i heard this song. not to mention, the “out and out and out // shake a fist and let’s breathe within the doubt” was good enough for me. then the song has the breakdown that takes it home. this would be incredible live! you haven’t heard half of the greatness of the song until you reach the 1:59 breakdown in the track. hot chip unleashes a side that seems to be the entertaining live show aspects that you watch on youtube. a big step for them and after around five consecutive repeats of the song, i’m still jaw-dropped impressed.

i’m giving this track 8 splendas. quite a breakthrough rating since i usually try to release pre-released or relatively new material.

glass candy

glass candy – miss broadway

i’ve heard this song before. of course, it’s on my disco hits cd! all this time, i never realized that glass candy is half cover band, half writers. it’s a cover of french disco group called le belle epoque. they had a few hits in europe but the only us hit song was this one. the production work of johnny jewel is incredible. in this track, they turn a disco classic into a groovy modern throwback electronic disco jam where ida’s vocals are incredible. not to mention the recorded strings and saxophone solo near the end which finishes the song leaving you wanting more. i give the cover of miss broadway 7 splendas.
