chromatics – i want your love

don’t fall for the title, this isn’t the rapture. chromatics is a duo of production and vocals very similar to glass candy — well maybe because they have the same producer, same label, and same tour dates, so take it easy my friend. if you aren’t a big fan of the new dark disco throwback sound, then simply skip this post and move on to the next song below. you gotta love the guitar riff however — the synth layers are sexy as well… i can almost hear some kraftwerk influence as well. six splendas.

hysteric ego

hysteric ego vs the hoxton whores

the hoxton whores are a progressive house duo who have released several independent releases through their own distribution label (sort of what pre’goo’look’n records is all about). known mainly for their remix of red hot chili peppers, they have released a few original songs and now hysteric ego have created a mini remix (commonly artist vs artist format in the uk) of the song and let me tell you, the result is delicious! seven splendas!

glasscandy2

glass candy – life after sundown

glass candy re-release this awesome song. it seems the disco fever is coming back. i can honestly relate to their writing style a lot. i love their style a lot. the drums are groovy, synths sound greater than ever, and ida’s vocals take over the song again. offbeat bass — a metronomes specialty. hope you guys dig these portland disco sexies. they will be coming to los angeles soon — so catch a show. if you’re from outside the LA area, check out their myspace on the link below. you might find them coming to a venue near you. eight splendas.

blocparty

bloc party – flux (radio leak version)

this track was sent to me by a friend. it seems that hot chip isn’t the only indie group that seems to have blown up with these electronic beats. bloc party has taken their sound to the next level. however, it’s completely different being as how i’m used to bloc party as more of a live band with less electronics. not to mention kele is using a vocoder. a vocoder. i’m not feelin’ it 100%, how about you? i miss the guitar edge they once had — even hunting for witches’ guitar riff sounded very electronic (pedals). i really hope bloc party doesn’t add a fifth member for electronics/keys. i think they’re better without the electronic sound (minus the backing tracks on their silent alarm album). four splendas.
