phoenix – holdin’ on together
first off, think alternative rock. then imagine a soothing french vocalist singing in english. then consider a former daft punk member playing basslines. all together, you’ve phoenix. i first heard them in the film ’shallow hal.’ these guys put together the edge of daft punk’s ’something about us’ with some groovy guitars and memorable lyrical phrases. lots of soul can be heard to fit many moods with a dance beat. with their own custom built studio, it’s no wonder the production of the album sounds incredible. i love how they use the yamaha cs80 keyboard for basslines. one day, i’d love to do stuff like that. five splendas.
